It seems there is nothing the UAE leadership cannot achieve. In the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, establishment of the Federation was a challenge in itself. His Highness said: “Nothing is impossible for our nation”. The UAE’s development model is based on overcoming challenges and has the determination to grab a leading place in the world. Founder of the UAE, the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who stands out in modern Arab history as an achiever of the impossible, embodied this philosophy. The UAE’s wise leadership under President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan follows the same philosophy.
The UAE wise leadership is ever willing to tackle the challenges facing development. It urges officials and citizens in various parts of the country to follow suit. The leaders look at the challenges as opportunities to come up with out-of-the-box initiatives.
Therefore, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum urged Cabinet ministers to set a target for winning top place globally and asked UAE University officials to ensure that the educational institution jumps 10 places globally every year. The idea is to set a high standard for each and every official and ensure that they achieve these objectives on the basis of a given time table and overcome the rigid, stereotyped systems of work and governance.
The UAE has taken giant, almost miraculous, strides on the road to progress in terms of time and outcome. This has been achieved due to the UAE leadership’s confidence in itself and in the nationals’ ability to innovate, excel and achieve in the face of global competition. It is not surprising that they have achieved top rankings not only in the Arab and Middle East region but also across the world.
The UAE leadership firmly believes that development is an ongoing process guided by an innovative vision capable of meeting challenges. “Nothing impossible for the UAE” is the catchphrase for this pioneering development experiment and the wise leadership is striving to instill values into an established culture in the society so that the UAE continues to remain a pioneering Arab model of development as per international standards.
